“Morning is an important time of day, because how you spend your morning can often tell you what kind of day you are going to have.” ~ Daniel Handler

As we all are in the quarantine, we have to stay in our homes and do something for ourselves. That is the only way to protect ourselves from the virus. While we are in our houses, we can use this time to develop a new hobby, or a new routine or learn a new skill or do something productive rather than just binge-watching or binge-eating. It rather keeps us motivated and less anxious during the pandemic.

So, As I gave it a thought to do something productive and decided to build up a morning routine because if your morning goes well, the whole day goes well.

I don’t actually have a certain morning routine before, as I am used to getting ready to college as soon as I wake up. But now, as I got to spend all my time in the home, I made some changes to how I start my days.

I don’t have a perfect morning routine but I manage to get some things done before actually starting my day. So, I am gonna give an outline of how my morning looks like.

FIRST THINGS ON BED.

As soon as I wake up, I grab my phone and check the messages and feed and scroll down the twitter or google to know what’s happening in the world for a while. I know it’s a bad habit to check your phone first thing in the morning but for me, it has always been like that for me from college. I check phone as soon as I wake up. But, I always try to be aware of what feed I scroll down and I avoid to see the negative feed in the morning as one single negative thought can ruin your entire day.

And sometimes, as soon as after checking my mobile phone, I write some positive thoughts in my journal maybe it’s a reminder or just a quote. It’s hard mainly in these times to use the time efficiently and to stay less anxious and we don’t even know how the time passed by. So, I will just plan my day and the important things I should do using the app To-Doist. Planning your day the first thing in the morning keeps your mind clarified and de-stressed.

AFTER A LAZY MOMENT ON BED.

Then I go to the washroom to freshen up and after that, I have a glass full of fresh lemon water as it is so refreshing and I do some basic workout and also yoga in the alternate days. That is if I do some basic workout such as pushups, squats, jump ropes on Monday, I do yoga on Tuesday. Yoga is really soothing and relaxing. You should do it too.

After a while, I meditate. Now it’s time to fuel the mind. I sit quietly for around 10 to 15 minutes and I meditate. And to be honest, this is one of the challenging tasks in the morning. I am trying to do chakra meditation nowadays.

I then take a shower and after that, I take a walk to the local shop to buy some daily groceries and while I am walking, I plug in my earphones and start listening to a podcast. Something which boosts up the dopamine rush.

And now, I have my breakfast. To keep myself away from binge eating, I try to eat healthily in the mornings. Like sometimes, I have toast and eggs as the breakfast and I make sure that breakfast contains some decent amount of proteins as it is the biggest meal of the day.

This is how I am spending my mornings in the time of quarantine.

And after my typical morning routine, I try to check off each task I have noted in my To-do list. I write for a while, I study a little bit of digital marketing on Coursera as I find it so interesting. I then read the book The immortals of meluha! which is a mythological fiction that I am currently reading and the list goes on and end my day by watching a good movie.
